Hello, my name is Kolleen King. I was born in Orlando, Florida and raised in Thomaston, Georgia. Growing up in small town Georgia in a single parent household has presented many challenges for me but I learned to work hard and persevere despite my circumstances. These values led me to achieve many accomplishments throughout high school and ultimately got me to Agnes Scott.
Some hobbies of mine include reading, writing, listening to music, and going thrifting with friends. I have always been an avid reader since I was younger and reading got me through some tough times. I sometimes like to call myself a music enthusiast because I listen to music from an array of genres. Making playlists has become a recent hobby of mine so that I can share my music taste and love for music with others.
My freshman year of high school, I decided to transition my hair from chemically processed to my naturally curly texture. I had gotten hair relaxers for years and I was tired of my hair being brittle and dry from the chemicals. It was quite a journey but I came out on the other side with a head full of beautiful curls that were naturally mine. This experience also inspired my future career. I am studying to become a cosmetic chemist, because I want to formulate hair products for all hair types so that everyone can fall in love with their hair like I did.
